The vault
Your saved logins, and often other data like secure notes or payment-card details, live in an encrypted vault. Access is generally gated behind a single master password, which is why choosing a strong, unique one matters more than any other single setting.
Autofill
Once you're signed into your vault, a browser extension or app can recognize a site or app you've saved a login for and offer to fill it in automatically, instead of you typing (or copy-pasting) it each time.
Cross-device access
Vault contents typically sync across the devices you're signed into, so a login saved on your laptop is also available on your phone.
Practical tips
- Review saved entries occasionally and delete ones you no longer use
- Double-check autofill matched the correct site before submitting a login
- Use the vault for sensitive notes sparingly and only for what you actually need
